Barba And Benson Deserve To Be Happy Together

I’m sure I’ve previously mentioned that I’m absolutely obsessed with Law & Order: SVU. For those of you who haven’t watched the latest episode, STOP READING NOW. There will be spoilers. Don’t say I didn’t warn you.

At the end of the latest episode, The Undiscovered Country, longtime character and my personal favorite ADA on the show, Rafael Barba, quit after being found not guilty of second-degree murder, which he was charged with after unplugging a brain-dead baby (long story). Now, it’s always hard when a character leaves a show, especially when said character has been there for years, like Barba. However, what most upsets me, and the reason as to why I’ve been crying on and off for over twenty-four hours (don’t judge me), is because he left before the show had a chance to explore the romantic attraction between him and the main character, Olivia Benson.

Ever since Barba’s first appearance on SVU (season 14, episode 3, entitled Twenty-Five Acts), fans have wanted Liv and Barba to get together, and anyone who watches the show knows that the attraction between them is there, in part due to the fantastic chemistry between the actors who portray Liv and Barba (Mariska Hargitay and Raúl Esparza, respectively). It seemed only natural that the two characters would eventually develop a romantic relationship.

However, as of the most recent episode, that hasn’t happened, and things are looking very bleak for “Barson” (a blend of “Barba” and “Benson”) shippers such as myself, as the episode marked the departure of Raúl Esparza from SVU. Now, not only are we left without the one couple that everyone always expected to happen, as opposed to merely hoping it would, Liv is again left by her closest friend, confidant, and, in this case, romantic interest.

They are absolutely perfect for each other!

In their last scene together at the end of the episode, Barba talks about how, when they first met, he saw the law, right and wrong, in black and white before giving Liv a beautiful speech about how she’s changed him:

And then you, you started to weasel your way into my world and the black and white became different shades of gray. Don’t say it. Before I knew it there were blues and greens and yellows and reds. I’m you now, Liv. You opened my heart and I thank you for it.

-Rafael Barba

After this, Liv just says one word: “And?” And I know I can’t be the only one who expected and hoped beyond all hope that Barba was going to say “I love you” or kiss her or something. Instead, he simply tells her that he has to move on, and kisses her forehead (which is not the kiss I was referring to!).

And that was that.

All of my Barson hopes, dreams, and expectations died.

And I have spent the following twenty-four plus hours sobbing on and off (I’m not even exaggerating a little bit about this).

My only hope is that, while Raúl Esparza may no longer be part of the main cast, he will come back as a recurring character to give Liv and Barba a chance to be happy, like they both deserve. I’m having trouble convincing myself that this is the case, though. My Barson heart is broken.

They deserve better. *We* deserve better.

Castle Is Seriously Awesome

Hey. I’m sorry I haven’t posted much in the past year. I’ve been meaning to, but life keeps getting in the way. I’ve recently been binge-watching Castle, and can I just say, oh my God, this is freaking amazing!!

Also: OH MY GOD BECKETT AND CASTLE ARE EVEN WORSE THAN BOOTH AND BONES WITH THE WHOLE IGNORING-THEIR-LOVE-FOR-EACH-OTHER THING!!!!

Seriously, it’s so bad that even the writers were poking fun at it. Castle and Beckett were talking about how annoying it is that Lanie and Esposito can’t just stop fighting and realize they love each other, and I’m over here like OH MY GOD GUYS ARE YOU THIS FREAKING BLIND SERIOUSLY!

I’ve been meaning to start watching Castle for years, but of course when I finally do, I realize that it just ended this spring. The entire series. I’m so pissed that I waited so long! Seriously, why?

Ugh, I don’t even know what to say. It’s disappointing, really. Anyways, I’m going to go continue watching it. I’ll try to post more soon, but we all know how horrible I am at posting when I say I will. I’m trying to get better, really! Bye.

I’ve Officially Gotten A New Generation Hooked On Bones

Hey. As I said in my last post, I’ve started watching Bones. Well, more like I binge-watched all ten-and-a-half seasons during the second week of December and have been rewatching them ever since, but whatever. Anyways, a few weeks ago, my sister was hanging out with me in my room and I happened to be watching Bones on my Xbox 360, using the Netflix app. She asked what I was watching and I was like, “Oh my God, Mina, this is Bones, it’s so awesome, oh my God, here, let’s watch it from the beginning, we’ll start at the first episode of season one!” Ever since then, she’s been hooked, watching episodes on Netflix in her free time. Turns out, she also told all of her friends about Bones, too, and now they’re obsessed with it, too, and they told their friends and now I seem to have gotten an entirely new generation obsessed with Bones.

I kinda feel like I should be getting paid for this….

Anyways, I’m gonna end this post now. I know it’s pretty short, but I want to go set everything up for Camp NaNoWriMo , which is next month. Bye!

Last Night’s Grey’s Anatomy And Today’s Sophomore Retreat

Hey. I’m going to start off with a simple statement of disbelief- April chose Jackson! YESSS!! And… they got MARRIED!!! I’m kinda of in disbelief because I was right, not because she chose him. But, seriously, last night’s episode of Grey’s Anatomy was a huge shocker, in many ways. It made me cry, laugh, scream, yell, shout, and other things (I’m not exaggerating- I seriously yelled and screamed and shouted at the TV 🙂 ). It was AMAZING!! Callie and Arizona are actually working things out majorly (YES YES YES YES YES YES YES!!!!!), and Meredith and Christina seem to finally be starting to patch up their relationship, which is good. But, anyways, I don’t want to ruin the rest of the details for people who haven’t watched it yet, so I’ll force myself to stop and talk about today instead. Today was actually fun. We had a sophomore retreat, and even though we just stayed in the gym mostly, secluded from the freshmen, juniors, and seniors, it was still pretty awesome. One of my favorite teachers of all time shared something very personal that made me literally sob, but that’s okay, because… well, I can’t tell you, because that might give away some private details, and only he can tell people that. I just have to say this: Mr. ____ (you know who you are, even though you’ll probably never read this), I know I already told you this, but you’re really brave for going up there, in front of everyone, and spilling all of that. And I know I wrote this in the letter I gave to you, but regardless of how you got here, I’m really glad that you’re my teacher.

Alright, that’s it for this post. Sorry I couldn’t tell you more, but I can’t tell anybody. Bye!
